Principal Engineer/Senior Architect

The Principal Engineer will be a key member of the team driving research and development of Voxify’s speech application development platform. Voxify’s Conversation Engine – the industry’s most advanced platform for conducting conversations that model the intelligence and personality of a trained call center agent – is used to automate high-volume customer service calls in various vertical markets. The Engineer will extend Voxify’s technology leadership through aggressive innovation that improves the caller experience, broadens the range of automatable call types, and reduces application development costs.

The position is based in Alameda, CA. Responsibilities include the architecture and implementation of the visual IDE, runtime engine, web user console, analytics system, and speech lifecycle tools and utilities. Research and development areas include dialog management, advanced voice user interface technologies, speech recognition and text-to-speech engines, language models, natural language understanding and speech standards. The position provides the opportunity to contribute to the foundation of a groundbreaking software product.

Successful candidates will have a computer science or related degree, expert level knowledge in Java/OO technologies, and 6+ years experience engineering commercial software platforms and architecting high-volume web application infrastructures. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of technical creativity, problem solving ability, software process and lifecycle skills, strong communication skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with contact center software or speech recognition technologies applications a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design and develop major platform functional systems
  • Maintain, refine and where necessary re-engineer the platform architecture to deliver high availability, high-grade speech applications
  • Work closely with Product Management, Client Operations, Sales and Marketing to define platform strategy
  • Research emerging technologies related to speech development, such as dialog management, language models, speech recognition and text-to-speech engines, speech standards, and natural language understanding
  • Work with the Engineering management team to establish and reinforce disciplined software development processes and best-practices
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers on platform usage
  • Serve as escalation point for resolving production issues related to the platform

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of commercial software architecture experience
  • Java/C++ design and development knowledge including: Java libraries and tools (e.g., Java 5+, Hibernate); Web technologies, including web services and J2EE web application servers (Axis, Servlet 2.x containers); Large-scale, high availability production web application infrastructure
  • Good knowledge of SQL/RDBMS
  • Development lead experience in a packaged software company

Desired Background

  • Knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies (e.g., Ajax, GWT)
  • Familiarity with speech technologies: VoiceXML, grammars, ASR (Nuance 7/8, OSR), TTS (Speechify/RealSpeak, Vocalizer), voice browsers (GVP, VoiceGenie, OpenVXI), integration frameworks (MRCP), audio processing techniques (filtering, equalization, dynamic range compression, data compression, streaming)
  • Experience in Eclipse IDE plug-in development
  • Familiarity with call center and telephony technologies (e.g. VoIP, CTI)

Applications Development Lead

As an Applications Development Lead, you will apply computer science and problem solving skills to voice and web applications in a J2EE environment, leading the design and implementation of Automated Agents delivered by Voxify. You will join a team of software industry veterans who are building applications, libraries, tools, and test frameworks. The role demands application design experience, domain analysis skills, great teamwork, project management, and strong communication skills. Your ability to quickly architect robust and reusable solutions, learn new technologies, and develop new processes is vital to your success. The position will extend skills in object-oriented development, voice interface design, and web service technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver applications as part of cross-functional team that includes client management, voice UI design, and QA
  • Participate in the analysis, design, programming and debugging of speech applications, libraries and tools
  • Develop speech recognition applications using Voxify’s Conversation Engine, Java, and object-oriented design patterns
  • Write design specifications for major application modules
  • Manage and design client-facing data integration projects
  • Develop and support key application libraries and tools
  • Apply SQL design skills and data analysis techniques to implement sophisticated data caches and reports
  • Provide technical support for application deployments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 8 or more years of commercial software development experience
  • Experience mentoring day-to-day activities of junior engineers
  • Experience in developing multiple enterprise speech or web applications
  • Experience with speech development lifecycle, including call flow design, development, testing, system rollout, reporting and application tuning

Software QA Engineer

Voxify is looking for a Software QA Engineer to play a key role in building a world-class voice application platform and packaged applications. The QA Engineer will be required to learn new technologies and be an effective tester in new application domains in a short time.

The role demands hands-on testing, methodical problem solving, great verbal and written communication skills, and teamwork. Your ability to quickly scrutinize complex dialog designs and data-intensive voice applications will be critical to your success.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update test plans
  • Perform black and white box testing
  • Document bugs and verify bug fixes
  • Design and maintain automation scripting and run regressions
  • Work closely with development and design engineers to achieve application correctness and usability

Requirements

  • 2 -3 years minimum experience in software QA including successful enterprise-grade packaged software releases
  • Able to work in a startup environment, where QA methodologies and tools are evolving, but with substantial experience in a mature QA environment building enterprise or shrink-wrap products
  • Experience with developing test automation for non-GUI applications
  • Experience testing one or more server-side web technologies
  • Experience with SQL, XML, and shell scripting
  • Experience with Perl, Ruby, or Python is a plus
  • Prior Java programming experience is a plus

Marketing Communications Manager

Voxify is seeking a Marketing Communications Manager experienced in managing lead generation programs, writing marketing content, and managing the corporate web site. The position requires specific experience in meeting quarterly lead goals through webcasts, web sponsorships, trade shows and other lead generation activities. The Marketing Communications Manager must have expertise in messaging and writing collateral, white papers and presentations. Great acumen is required in understanding a customer’s business need, articulating Voxify’s value proposition, and obtaining customer results. Experience in speech applications, contact center, or customer relationship management software is required. The Marketing Communications Manager should be flexible, organized, able to work with different functional groups, and a quantitative marketer. Experience using Salesforce.com, Eloqua, and web publishing tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Meet quarterly lead goals by executing online generation programs (e.g. webcasts, web sponsorships, outbound email), trade shows, and other programs
  • Understand Voxify product strengths, functionality, positioning, and the speech industry to write collateral, white papers, press releases, and presentations
  • Consistently apply company positioning across all communications channels
  • Track metrics for leads, nurturing, and other campaign results using Salesforce.com and Eloqua
  • Update the corporate website with content and SEO practices
  • Work closely with Inside Sales and Account Executives to move leads through the sales pipeline following the sales process

Voxify is seeking a unique individual with a rare combination of outstanding communication skills, excellent technical expertise, and the ability to navigate complex sales cycles working with both partners and their customers. This position will challenge you to excel in a variety of areas and offer the right candidate significant opportunity for reward and growth.

As a Senior Partner Solutions Consultant, you will play a key role in sales through the Voxify partner channel. You will be responsible for training partners on how Voxify's Automated Agents™ and Conversation Engine technology can make a dramatic impact on customers' businesses. You will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Voxify's technology offering and show partners and their customers how they relate to their respective needs.

You will be teamed with a Voxify’s Partner Managers to secure business in very competitive situations. You will build on your background in contact center, speech, and/or telecom technology to establish credibility with partners, and respond to detailed technical questions about how Voxify's technology will solve a customer’s problems in a diversified set of environments and deployment scenarios. In turn, Voxify will provide you with a challenging, fast-paced environment that rewards initiative and results.

Qualifications

  • Significant previous work experience as a Sales Engineer or Solutions Consultant.
  • Excellent organization skills. Proven ability to drive projects to completion and multitask among many different opportunities.
  • Outstanding communication skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts to all levels of the customer organization including engineers, managers, and executives
  • 5+ years building and managing relationships with customers, including senior executives.
  • 3+ years responsibility for representing the technical capabilities of a company in complex sales cycles.
  • Technical knowledge. In-depth knowledge or significant demonstrated aptitude to learn speech recognition, data integration, and telephony concepts. Ability to translate technology into business objectives.
  • Sales skills. Experience in supporting sales teams in competitive situations and an understanding of how technical resources can influence the sales process.
  • Travel required at times.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda California).

  • Understanding of a partner ecosystem
  • Experience with the systems and operation of large commercial contact centers.

  • Maintain excellent relationships with Voxify prospects
  • Meet or exceed assigned monthly quota
  • Maintain outbound activity of 40-60 activities per day
  • Independent target account research
  • Follow-up on leads created through corporate marketing's lead generation programs
  • Maintain accurate and complete data as well as create reports in Salesforce.com
  • Create cohesive team strategy with Field Sales Representatives in the assigned territory to ensure overall team success

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Consistent track record of telesales achievement

  • Confident polished telephone presenter and email writer with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
